1st winning photo of our Photo Contest 2021



This photo was taken by Ryan Geller after picking up a mooring in a tidal creek in the Exumas Land and Sea Park after a 26 nautical mile passage. A mere meter of tidal range exposes a playground of pure white sandbanks to either side. Don’t be surprised if you’re immediately welcomed by a curious nurse shark and its spotted eagle-ray and turtle friends. The quiet islands surrounding the anchorage have no roads, no airports, and no tourists. If you want to call this your backyard for the day you’ll need to sail here.
After grabbing a quick snapshot it was time for the crew to put the electronics away and celebrate a successful day on the water with early afternoon rum cocktails. There is no cellular reception here, but if you need some emergency ice, be sure to hail your neighbor on VHF 09.
